Club Constitution

1. Name

The Club shall be called Parakeets Cricket Club (hereafter referred to as “the Club”).

2. Aims and Objectives

The Club’s primary purpose is to provide its members with opportunities to play and enjoy friendly, competitive cricket in a welcoming, sociable, and inclusive environment.

The objectives of the Club are:

  • To organise and play friendly fixtures against other clubs;
  • To uphold the spirit and traditions of cricket;
  • To promote fair play, respect, and enjoyment;
  • To operate on a non-profit basis, with any surplus funds reinvested into the Club.

3. Membership

  • Membership of Parakeets CC is by invitation only, at the discretion of the Committee or existing members.
  • Members are expected to uphold the Club’s standards of behaviour and sportsmanship at all times.
  • The Committee may refuse or revoke membership if conduct is deemed inappropriate or contrary to the interests of the Club.
  • There shall be no discrimination on the grounds of age, race, disability, sexual orientation, or religion.

4. Club Management

The Club shall be managed by an elected Committee consisting of:

  • President: provides leadership and represents the Club publicly.
  • Club Captain: responsible for cricketing matters, team selection, and on-field conduct.
  • Treasurer: manages finances, the Parakeets CC bank account, and insurance.
  • Club Secretary: oversees Club administration, communication, and documentation.
  • Fixture Secretary: arranges fixtures and liaises with grounds and opposition.
  • Social Secretary: organises Club social events and assists with team cohesion.

Committee members shall be elected annually by a simple majority of members present at the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Additional roles may be created or adjusted as required.

5. Finances

  • The Club shall operate a non-profit bank account in the name of Parakeets CC.
  • All income (match fees, subscriptions, sponsorship) shall be used solely for the benefit of the Club.
  • The Treasurer shall keep accurate financial records and provide a summary report at the AGM.
  • Two committee members must approve significant payments.

6. Meetings

  • The Club shall hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) prior to each playing season.
  • At least 14 days’ notice shall be given to all members.
  • Decisions shall be made by majority vote of those present.
  • A quorum shall consist of at least three committee members.

7. Code of Conduct

All members agree to:

  • Play within the spirit and laws of cricket.
  • Respect opponents, officials, and teammates.
  • Avoid abusive, discriminatory, or aggressive behaviour.
  • Represent the Club positively on and off the field.

8. Safeguarding and Welfare

  • The Club is an adult-only team; however, it is committed to ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all participants and spectators.
  • Should the Club ever include under-18 players, a qualified Club Welfare Officer will be appointed, and all relevant ECB safeguarding policies adopted.

9. Insurance and Liability

  • The Club shall maintain public liability insurance and any additional cover deemed necessary.
  • Members participate in matches and events at their own risk, acknowledging that cricket is a physical sport involving potential injury.

10. Dissolution

In the event that the Club ceases to operate, any remaining funds after settling debts shall be donated to a cricket-related charity or local club, as decided by the final Committee.

This constitution was adopted by members of Parakeets CC on 8 January 2026.
